New for 2008

The Brontė Parsonage Museum reopened on 1st February 2008. This year's features are a special exhibition "No Coward Soul" celebrating the life and work of Emily Brontė the author of Wuthering Heights and a redisplay of Branwell Brontė's paintings. The exhibition will be the first time all of the Society's Emily collection has been on display together.

Special Tours of the Brontė Parsonage Museum – New for 2008

Get a new view of the story of the Brontė Family and an opportunity to see behind the scenes.

For the first time for many years we are able to offer the public a tour of the Brontė Parsonage Museum plus a look behind the scenes and a closer look at some treasures from the Society’s world famous collections.

The tours are restricted to 12 people.

9.45 meet your guide for a short introduction to the house and the surrounding features

10.00 tour of the house with your guide

11.15 visit to the Library and opportunity to view selected items from the collection.

11.45 end of tour and your opportunity to go back and view the house at your leisure or visit the exhibition in the Old School Room opposite the Museum.

All this for the special introductory price of £12.95 per head unfortunately we are not able to offer reductions for children or concessions. There will be a minimum tour of 6 people. Pre-booking is essential. Call 01535 642323 to book

If you are a company or individual wishing to donate money or services to the Bronte Society please contact us directly on 01535 642323 or bronte@bronte.org.uk  There is also extra information for those wishing to remember the Society and Museum by leaving a legacy in their will.

What's On

Chruchyards and Chaffinches!:  Bank Holiday 5th May. A fun day for all the family. A drop in activity between 11.00 and 4.00 free with admission to the Museum. Hunt round Haworth Churchyard with our special  Discovery Bags. Follow our graveyard trail, do a spot of headstone rubbing find a hidden world of living things you never knew were there with our bug catchers and viewers.

Friday 6 June 

Beryl Bainbridge: Dame Beryl Bainbridge, one of our most prolific and well respected authors, will be visiting Haworth to read from and discuss her work. This event will open a weekend of Brontė Society events - West Lane Baptist Centre, Haworth - 3.30pm - Admission £5 on the door -  For further information contact 01535 640188 / jenna.holmes@bronte.org.uk.

Baby God: Emily Brontė and Wuthering Heights: To coincide with the museum's 2008 special exhibition No Coward Soul, focusing on Emily Brontė, this panel discussion will bring together a number of established authors who have acknowledged the influence of Wuthering Heights on their own writing, and will explore their personal responses to the novel. Simon Armitage:  Poet, Simon Armitage, will be reading from and discussing his work. Annelies Strba: An exhibition of new work by Swiss artist Annelies Strba, inspired by the Brontės and the Parsonage - Brontė Parsonage Museum - Free on admission to the museum.

Summer Arts Events: We'll be running a series of arts events during August to give visitors the opportunity to see artists at work. Events will include a photographic project to record 21st century visitors as Charlotte, Emily and Anne; a specially commissioned piece from puppetry theatre company Frolicked and making artworks from materials collected on walks around the parsonage - dates tbc - Further details will be on the website soon - bronte@bronte.org.uk.
